New Name. New Look. New Experiences.

The Lake Dillon Theatre Company rebrands as theatre Silco!

For 29 years, you, our patrons and friends, have generously lent us your energy, insight, and resources, spurring us to boldly pursue excellence and cultivate a welcoming theatre experience unlike any other.

We are so proud of the legacy we have created in our community, but after months of research, discussion, thought and soul searching, it is time for a name and brand that reflects who we are now.

Overwhelmingly, we heard that even after over 25 years in the community, there was confusion regarding what we’re all about. And not just from tourists and second home owners – longtime locals were also unsure. Many still thought we were the amphitheater in Dillon.  Plus, more importantly, we needed (and wanted) a name that better reflected who we are as an organization. We are Brave, Boundless Theatre that is embedded in Summit County with the work we do – not just at the theater but in the community, and most recently our work with our Vivo Free Theatre After School Program that is serving over 100 youth a day.

Taking our name from Silverthorne, Colorado, Theatre SilCo is committed to deepening our region’s connection to the arts and each other. We’ve always been the Colorado theatre with a brave, boundless spirit. Now we’re owning it with an exciting new name inspired by our mountain home: Theatre SilCo!

We know that change is hard.  We know the Theatre SilCo name will NOT be love at first sight. We ask that you give it some time. Yes, the name is different but we are and will continue to be the same intimate, professional and approachable organization providing the highest quality and experiences.

We’re more than a theatre.  SilCo’s heart is in our people: the staff, talent, and faithful advocates for the arts (like you!) who generously support our brave outlook, extraordinary performances, and human-first approach. Now, we are taking it to the next level with a bold new look, bold new name, bold new theatre.

Theatre SilCo.
Brave, Boundless Mountain Spirit.
Brave, Boundless Mountain Theatre.

Frequently Asked Questions

After many many years of battling with a name that brought more confusion that acknowledgment – it was time for us to take control of the narrative. We’ve always been the Colorado theatre with a brave, boundless spirit. Now we’re owning it with an exciting new name inspired by our mountain home: the Theatre SilCo!

We took our name from Silverthorne, Colorado (see what we did).  It’s a portmanteau – which is the combination of two words to make another word (like SoHo, motel, smog, and LoDo).  As Theatre SilCo we are committed to deepening our region’s connection to the arts and each other.

It was time.   We have established ourselves as the impetuous of the thriving (arts) community in Silverthorne, Colorado.   It was time to solidify that relationship with the city we call home.    There is still great confusion in the community with the name Lake Dillon Theater Company – many many still think we are the amphitheater in Dillon.   The timing couldn’t have been better.

Really, any programming changes will be because of our new strategic plan that focuses on Fiscal Responsibility, Outstanding Experiences, and Community Impact.   Our new name and rebrand – will help us solidify us as “the arts organization” in Summit County.   Remember, we’re more than a theatre. SilCo’s heart is in our people—the staff, talent, and faithful advocates for the arts (like you!) who generously support our brave outlook, extraordinary performances, and human-first approach.

That’s ok.  Change is hard.  We get it.   We know, for many, that it will not be love at first sight.   We’ve been doing great work in this community.  It was time for the cover to match the book.   We’ve always been the Colorado theatre with a brave, boundless spirit. Now we’re owning it with an exciting new name inspired by our mountain home: the Theatre SilCo!
