2025 Audition Information

Audition Information:
For your audition please prepare the following:

If you’re auditioning for one of the musicals in the season, please prepare:

  •  One 30 sec to 1 min monologue 
  • 16-32 bars of a song in the genre of the show 

If you are NOT auditioning for any of the musicals in our season, please prepare:

  • Two contrasting monologues cumulatively totaling 2 min in length
*PLEASE DO NOT AUDITION WITH MATERIAL FROM THE SHOWS YOU’RE AUDITIONING FOR*

The Book Club Play

SYNOPSIS:
Book Club is like Lord of the Flies with Wine and Dip”

A  hit comedy about books and the people who love them. When the members of a devoted book club become the subjects of a documentary filmmaker and accept a provocative new member, their long-standing group dynamics take a hilarious turn. Sprinkled with wit, joy and novels galore.

SEEKING:

  • Ana Smith (30’s) 
    • Beautiful. Charming. Smart. Accomplished. Organized. A columnist for a daily paper. The “Mother Bee.” Her grace masks a need to control.
  • Jennifer McClintock (30s). 
    • Ana’s friend. Pretty. Shy. Smart. Tends to burst out with awkward truthful comments. Despite some lack of self-confidence, she is the grounding center of the group. Unorganized and oblivious to her own attractiveness. Unmarried.
    • *Character track will also include the role of Elsa, jaded literary agent*
  • Lilly Louise Jackson (20’s)
    • Black, 20s. A go-getter. Former debate captain who is on the cusp of all current trends and yet can still put her foot in her mouth in social occasions. Laughs at appropriate and inappropriate times. A great lover of books and ANAs’ protégée at the paper.
    • *Character track will also will also include the role of Mrs. Simpson, skydiver*
  • Robert Smith (30’s)
    • ANAs’ golden-boy, handsome, charismatic, underachiever husband who is starting to search for meaning. Met in college. Upper-crust background.
    • *Character track will also include the role of Sam, Walmart guy*
  • William Nothnagel (30’s)
    • 30s. ROB’s conservative, well-read, well-dressed, disciplined college roommate. ANAs’ former boyfriend. History buff. Unmarried.
    • *Character track will also include the role of Frank, Secret Service agent*
  • Alex (30’s)
    • 30s. The new guy. A very smart, well-read academic who has lost his moorings and is searching for real connections. Professor of comparative literature.
    • *Character track will also include the role of Carl, inmate book dealer*


Steel Magnolias

SYNOPSIS:
Set in a small Louisiana beauty parlor, where a group of close-knit women, including the vivacious salon owner Truvy, the strong-willed M’Lynn, the quirky Annelle, the sassy Clairee, and the curmudgeonly Ouiser, navigate life’s joys and challenges together, sharing laughter, gossip, and support through major life events, most notably the struggles of young bride-to-be Shelby who battles with Type 1 diabetes, ultimately revealing the resilience of female friendship in the face of tragedy and loss. 

SEEKING: 

  • Truvy Jones- 40-year-old owner of a small town beauty shop. She knows everyone’s business and shares it with anyone who will listen. Southern Belle. She always has advice for you, and they are often come in the form of country sayings
  • M’Lynn Eatenton- 50-year-old mother of Shelby. She is overprotective at times and finds the need to have a firm grasp on the world at all times. She is a busy woman who worries too much for her age
  • Annelle Dupuy-Desoto- (19-25) Very shy hairdresser. She goes from a very soft-spoken person to a bibe-loving Christian with her heart on her sleeve.
  • Shelby Eatenton-Latcherie– Roughly 25-year-old diabetic young lady. Prettiest girl in town, and loved by all. She has a weird relationship with her mother, and often rebels just for the sake of rebellion
  • Clairee Belcher- 60-year-old widow of the former mayor of Chinquapin. She is wealthy and also knows everyone’s business. She is the sarcastic member of the group. She loves to laugh and poke fun at the little things that others cry over. She is very close with Ouiser
  • Ouiser Bourdeaux– 60-year-old. She is a wealthy old bitty. She is a loveably miserable lady, though. Her unique personality and sense of humor is a great relief in the serious scenes. 


WHAT THE CONSTITUTION MEANS TO ME

SYNOPSIS:
Nominated for two Tony awards and a Pulitzer Prize, What the Constitution Means to Me is a play by Heidi Schreck that explores the Constitution’s impact on women and how it will affect future generations of Americans. Schreck, who put herself through college by giving speeches about the Constitution, resurrects her teenage self in the play.

ESCAPE TO MARGARITAVILLE

Written by Greg Garcia and Mike O’Malley

SYNOPSIS:
Jimmy Buffett’s Escape to Margaritaville is a musical comedy featuring the most-loved Jimmy Buffett classics, including “Cheeseburger in Paradise”, “Margaritaville,” “It’s Five O’Clock Somewhere,” “Fins,” “Volcano,” and many more. With a book by Emmy Award winner Greg Garcia (“My Name is Earl,” “Raising Hope”) and Emmy nominee Mike O’Malley (“Survivor’s Remorse,” “Shameless”), this hilarious, heartwarming musical is the party you’ve been waiting for!

SEEKING: 

  • Tully (Male age 27-39) Smooth-talking, self-deprecating playboy. He’s completely content with the life he’s chosen as the singer/bartender at a tropical resort, until he meets Rachel, a vacationer who upends his heart. Guitar skills are useful.
  • Marley (Female age 40-49) No-nonsense and assertive with an island accent. She runs the resort and keeps everyone in check, but clearly cares about her employees, her customers, and J.D., an older island denizen. Great singer.
  • Rachel (Female age 27-33) Fully committed to her job and helping the world. Willing to put in as many hours of hard work as it takes and expects everyone else to do that same. Suspicious of fools and operators, Rachel is not easily distracted from her life plan.
  • J.D. (Male age 60-79) A funny, endearing older man who always has a parrot on his shoulder. He’s losing his vision and his hearing, but won’t acknowledge it. A good-natured drunkard, he’s always writing his memoirs on bar napkins and, as it turns out, he’s lived a full life.
  • Tammy (Female age 30-39) Loyal friend to Rachel. Sees the best in people and has a zest for life that is often squelched by her fiance, Chad. Her low self-esteem manifests itself as denial in her own life.
  • Brick- (Male age 30-39) The Island bartender. Has a big heart and a good friend to Tully. Not the brightest bulb, but sensitive and thoughtful.

MURDER FOR TWO, HOLIDAY EDITION

SYNOPSIS:
Officer Marcus Moscowicz is a small-town policeman with dreams of making it to detective. One fateful night, shots ring out at the surprise birthday party of Great American Novelist Arthur Whitney and the writer is killed…fatally. With the nearest detective an hour away, Marcus jumps at the chance to prove his sleuthing skills—with the help of his silent partner, Lou. But whodunit? Did Dahlia Whitney, Arthur’s scene-stealing wife, give him a big finish? Is Barrette Lewis, the prima ballerina, the prime suspect? Did Dr. Griff, the overly-friendly psychiatrist, make a frenemy? Marcus has only a short amount of time to find the killer and make his name before the real detective arrives… and the ice cream melts!

Murder For Two is the perfect blend of music, mayhem and murder! In this hilarious 90-minute show, 2 performers play 13 roles – not to mention the piano – in a witty and winking homage to old-fashioned murder mysteries. You won’t want to miss this killer musical comedy!
