Costume Shop Manager

Theatre SilCo is an Equity theatre in Silverthorne, Colorado currently accepting applications for a Seasonal Costume Shop Manager for the 2024 Summer Season. Productions include: Ken Ludwig’s Moriarty: A New Sherlock Holmes Adventure, The Amish Project, and The Legend of Georgia McBride.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Oversee implementation, operation, and maintenance of all wardrobe needs for the summer season in a number of venues. Ensure costume designs/plots are executed as required per discussions with the artistic director, director, and designers. Each design is to be ready and loaded in each tech week and should reflect high artistic quality and professional attention to detail. All designs must be maintained throughout the production run. Any costume notes needed during the course of the production are to be administered before the next scheduled performance. This position will be building costumes with the Costume Apprentices for some of  the shows listed above. 

DEPARTMENT SUPERVISION: The Costume Manager will work closely with the Wardrobe/Costume  Apprentices and will report to the Production Manager and Costume Designers. The Costume Shop Manager will be responsible for the overall function of the costume shop. Working with the rest of the production staff, the Costume Shop Manager will ensure all wardrobe requirements for each production/event meets all specifications per discussions with the artistic director, director, and artistic team, as well as overseeing wardrobe maintenance throughout the course of the run. 

MAINTENANCE: Supervise maintenance of all wardrobe equipment, costume maintenance/repair and any other show-related equipment and duties. Coordinate repairs, alterations or replacements as needed for built, rented, or stock garments.

STRIKE / CHANGEOVER: Plan and oversee all wardrobe strikes and changeovers of productions and special events. 


QUALIFICATIONS: BA or BFA in technical theatre, costume design, or equivalent work experience. Working knowledge of garment construction and alteration for theatrical use required. Knowledge of costume shop and wardrobe equipment and proper garment care, maintenance and storage required. Must display a positive attitude with a focus on people and our community. Demonstrate professional conduct at all times. Strong leadership skills. Comfortable working with both hired crew and volunteers of varying experience and abilities. Proficient oral and written communication skills. Ability to decipher costume plots, wardrobe track sheets, ground plans, and other design elements whether hand-written or via software technology.

PHYSICAL DEMAND: This job requires climbing stairs, using ladders, costume appliances, and tools. There is also a certain amount of lifting and carrying of up to 40 lbs.

TEACHING ARTIST

Theatre SilCo is an Equity theatre in Silverthorne, Colorado currently accepting applications for Teaching Artists for the 2024 Summer Season. Camps include: The Spongebob Musical production camp; Pete the Cat, PJ Masks, Paw Patrol, Dog Man, Bluey, Bubble Guppies, The Pout-Pout Fish, and The Wonky Donkey Playmakers camps; Movement of Theatre, Best of Broadway, Improv Theatre, and Musical Theatre Dance skills based camps. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Teaching Artists will serve as a key member of the Education team and act as lead teacher and advisor to a team of high school Education Apprentices. Our teaching artists will make strong artistic contributions to the success of our youth productions and camps by overseeing Youth Workshop Productions and camp activities.

DEPARTMENT SUPPORT: The teaching artists will help maintain the daily camp schedule, assist in creating curriculum, oversee the daily implementation of curriculum, assist with external communications to families and/or artistic staff, attend production meetings, and support a culture of generosity and empathy. 

DAY TO DAY DUTIES: 

  • Aide in drop off and pick up for all Youth Theatre Workshops and Camps
  • Teach children from Pre-K to 9th grade the fundamentals of theatre as well as working towards full productions following the curriculum that the Seasonal Education Manager and Teaching Artists created.
  • Make copies or materials for daily art projects
  • Take notes on the weekly goings on at camp and help create an end of week email to go out to the campers parents to go out at the end of the camp week. The Seasonal Education Manager will send out the email.
  • Take photos of daily camp activities and upload to a Google Drive folder that is shared with parents in weekly emails each Friday. (a different folder for each camp with separate folders for each cohort)
  • The Teaching Artists will be present for lunch time and offer other staff members a short 5 minute break to get lunch and use the restroom. 
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS: The ideal candidate will have at least 1-2 years of experience as a teaching artist. Candidates with Spanish language fluency or previous experience in an ESL environment are encouraged to apply. In accordance with national standards and practices, all potential SEM’s  are subject to a federal background check.

MASTER ELECTRICIAN

Theatre SilCo is an Equity theatre in Silverthorne, Colorado currently accepting applications for a Seasonal Master Electrician for the 2024 Summer Season. Productions include: Ken Ludwig’s Moriarty: A New Sherlock Holmes Mystery, The Amish Project, and The Legend of Georgia McBride.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Oversee and participate in all hang/focus/electrics needs for the summer season in a number of venues. Ensure lighting designs/plots are executed as required per discussions with the artistic staff and designers. Each plot is to be ready and loaded in to reflect high artistic quality and professional attention to detail. All lighting plots must be maintained throughout the production run. Any focus notes needed during the course of the production are to be administered before the next scheduled performance.

DEPARTMENT SUPERVISION: The Master Electrician will report to the Production Manager, Technical Director, and Lighting Designer. The ME will supervise the Production Apprentices during the contract dates and any job responsibilities or design work on special events as assigned to the apprentice. Working with the rest of the production staff, ME will ensure all lighting requirements for each production/event meets all technical specifications per discussions with the artistic staff, as well as overseeing lighting plot maintenance throughout the course of the run. 

TECHNICAL PROCESS: Master Electrician must be present and perform required duties at rehearsals and performances to the satisfaction of artistic staff. During tech week and through the run of the productions, ME will operate the light board and otherwise execute necessary duties on the crew as assigned by the Production Stage Manager.

MAINTENANCE: Supervise maintenance of all lighting equipment, including lights, dimmers, light boards, tools, spotlights and any other show-related equipment. Coordinate repairs or replacement as needed. 

STRIKE / CHANGEOVER: Plan and oversee all lighting strikes and changeovers of productions and special events. 

QUALIFICATIONS: BFA or BA in technical theatre, lighting design, or equivalent work experience. Working knowledge of theatrical lighting systems, experience with ETC ION console, console programming, hang/focus experience required. Some design experience is preferred. Must display a positive attitude with a focus on people and community. Demonstrate professional conduct at all times. Strong leadership skills. Comfortable working with both hired crew and volunteers of varying experience and abilities. Proficient oral and written communication skills. Ability to decipher lighting plots, elevations, ground plans, and other design elements handwritten or via technology like VectorWorks, etc.

PHYSICAL DEMAND: This job requires climbing stairs, using ladders, scissor lifts, and power tools. There is also a certain amount of lifting and carrying of up to 50 lbs.
