Sound Supervisor

Theatre SilCo (formerly The Lake Dillon Theatre Company), an Equity theatre in Silverthorne, CO is currently accepting applications for a Sound Supervisor for the 2023 Summer Season. Productions include: Head Over Heels, The Half Life of Marie Curie, Baskerville: A Sherlock Holmes Mystery

SUMMER SEASON 2023: The Sound Supervisor will be in charge of the Sound department and oversee all audio needs including speaker placement hang, in-performance mixing, maintenance and cabling of all sound equipment, and other in-production duties and crew track for the productions. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Oversee implementation, operation, and maintenance of all audio needs for the summer season in a number of venues. Ensure sound designs/plots are executed as required per discussions with the artistic director, associate artistic director, director, and designers. Each design is to be ready and loaded in before Sunday of each tech week and should reflect high artistic quality and professional attention to detail. All sound designs must be maintained throughout the production run. Any sound notes needed during the course of the production are to be administered before the next scheduled performance. In-performance live mixing of Head Over Heels. It will be a 14 person cast singing to pre recorded tracks.

DEPARTMENT SUPERVISION: The Sound Supervisor will report to the Production Manager, Technical Director, and Sound Designer. The Sound Supervisor will supervise the Sound Apprentice during the contract dates and any job responsibilities or design work on special events as assigned to the apprentice. Working with the rest of the production staff, Sound Supervisor will ensure all sound requirements for each production/event meets all technical specifications per discussions with the artistic director, associate artistic director, director, and artistic team, as well as overseeing sound maintenance throughout the course of the run. 

TECHNICAL PROCESS: Sound Supervisor must be present and perform required duties at rehearsals and performances to the satisfaction of artistic director, associate artistic director, director, and production stage manager. During tech week and through the run of the productions, Sound Supervisor will live mix mics and recorded tracks for Head Over Heels.

MAINTENANCE: Supervise maintenance of all sound equipment, including speakers, consoles, microphones, body pack mics/receivers, and any other show-related equipment. Coordinate repairs or replacement as needed. 

STRIKE / CHANGEOVER: Plan and oversee all sound strikes and changeovers of productions and special events. 

YOUTH THEATRE WORKSHOPS: The LDTC also produces theatre for young actors in a workshop environment throughout the summer,on the outdoor stage. The Sound Supervisor will be responsible training an Apprentice to live mixing and run the performances for these productions.

QUALIFICATIONS: BA or BFA (required) in technical theatre, sound design, or equivalent work experience. Working knowledge of theatrical sound systems required. Experience with Behringer X-32 digital consoles, console programming experience, live mixing experience required. Some design experience preferred. Must display a positive attitude with a focus on people and our community. Demonstrate professional conduct at all times. Strong leadership skills. Comfortable working with both hired crew and volunteers of varying experience and abilities. Proficient oral and written communication skills. Ability to decipher sound plots, elevations, ground plans, and other design elements whether hand written or via technology like VectorWorks, etc.

PHYSICAL DEMAND: This job requires climbing stairs, using ladders, scissor lifts, and power tools. There is also a certain amount of lifting and carrying of weights of up to approximately 50 lbs.

$650-$750/week DOE
